  8.25.01 11:59 PM (Saturday)
Sad news... R&B singer Aaliyah died in a plane crash tonight. Prayers and sympathy go out to her family and those close to her.
I went to Gameworks yesterday for Arcade Team practice, bought a 2 hour card, and played DDR for nearly as long. I was really tired.
  8.21.01 9:46 PM (Tuesday)
I just came back from David S.'s and Emily's going away dinner today. It was at Chang's Mongolian Grill. The food was good as always... it was sad because some people didn't eat and they overcharged us on the bill. Oh well, everything settled out. Most people decided to go to Jamie's house but I didn't really feel like going, so I went home.
  8.19.01 11:33 PM (Sunday)
I went to David S.'s going away bonfire at Golden Gardens today. It was pretty cool, we built a small bonfire at the beach then were told that it was illegal so we moved to a real fire pit. It was kinda crazy because the bonfire next to us put a lighter fluid cannister in their fire and we were scared it was going to explode, but luckily it didn't. It was supposed to be for Emily too but she didn't go... some of her friends showed up but they left because she wasn't there. It was pretty cool though.
  8:13.01 10:56 PM (Monday)
Okay today was a normal hangout day. I hung out with David and we went down to the Pier and to the arcade. I played Pump it Up for the first time; I played it on normal mode so it was really easy. I think I like DDR better, but maybe that's because I haven't seen how difficult or how more fun PIU could get... oh well, then we went to Gameworks and I played DDR a few times. I feel bad because I got my sister's friend kicked out by sharing a card. Ohhhhh well.
  8.9.01 5:57 PM (Friday)
I've been really bored this week... on Tuesday I planned a picnic with Flavia, and karaoke. The picnic turned out fine except everyone left early; I had to leave because of a doctor's appointment. And karaoke didn't happen because Khaliun and Leanne couldn't make it so the five of us (Eric, David, Jeffo, Aaron, me) hung around Chinatown. We ate sushi and then pho and then ice cream. It got really... interesting. Anyway, yesterday I spent the morning playing DDR 3rd and 4th mix, it was pretty fun. Then I went to David's house. And today, I'm really bored... oh well.
  8.3.01 10:51 PM (Friday)
I've been pretty busy this week. On Saturday I went to David's sister's wedding which was, interesting to say the least. David could only invite four people so he invited me, Eric, James, Leanne. It was kinda funny b/c they were serving champagne for a toast and they served everyone at our table champagne except James, and they gave him cider. On Sunday I went to Pista with James and David, which was really busy and full of cops. On Monday I went to the orthodontist! On Tuesday it was Asian Day, thank you to everyone who went. Basically we went to Chinatown for lunch, then to Gameworks. The funny story there was that Jeffo was playing with his butterfly knife from Eric and it got taken by a Gameworks official. And today I went to see Rush Hour II. As usual the film had lots of good action and it was really funny. Zhang Ziyi was also really hot as Fu Li.
  7.28.01 1:08 AM (Saturday)
Another busy day today! It was the last day of Chemistry and we had a chemistry demonstration followed by a potluck, and then grades were given out. My reaction, a sodium acetate hydrate supersaturated solution, was kinda awkward. Anyway Austin, Shu Ming, and I went to Chinatown after that. Then I went home, slept for 3 hours, and got a ride with Jaylene and Christina to Khaliun, Sarah, and Michele's party. The party was alright, it was seriously lacking in guys, but I managed to have some fun. There was a funny moment when I was slow dancing with Christina, who's around half my height, so it was a little hard to dance. But the evening went smooth.
  7.22.01 7:45 PM (Sunday)
Busy day today... I woke up at 8 anticipating a ride from James, but then I told him I was going to take the bus down there myself. I took the bus downtown, met up with Leanne, and we went to Seattle Center for the last day of the Bite, where we met Armand and David S., and finally Khaliun. It was pretty fun. After playing a really bad game of DDR, having fun at the bumper cars, and riding on the rollercoaster and Jetspin (well... some of us) we went to get some food so we could get good seats for KISS's concert featuring Willa Ford. Our seats were bad but oh well, it kinda sucked. After the concert we dropped Leanne off so she could ride her bus and we all karaoke'd... after an hour Sascha came. It was pretty fun considering some of the people didn't show up.
  7.20.01 8:11 PM (Friday)
Alex B's name is the first word in my entry today because he gave me a free balloon at the Bite of Seattle. Alright Alex, you rock! Oh well, not like he was going to sell many of them at $7 a pop... but yeah, I went to the Bite today, with David, Aaron, Peter, and Brian. We caught up with David C-M and Alex, and also Armand and David S. It was an interesting choice of foods, I first tried some overpriced fried Calimari that I split with David S. (I paid $2) but it was pretty good. Then I bought a Vietnamese Combo for $5, which was okay. Then i bought a Straberry Cooler for $2, it was pretty good. Well we just walked around a lot, went to the arcade a few times to watch MvC2, and then everyone left for Alex's house except for me and David. We stuck around to watch Sarina Paris perform 4 songs, then we took the bus to our houses.
  7.17.01 4:14 PM (Tuesday)
Oh no! I just bombed two Chemistry tests two days in a row... yesterday I got a 76% and today I think I got either a high D or low C, but I'm hoping it's somehow a low B... I hope that I still have an A by the end of the class though.
  7.13.01 5:24 PM (Friday)
Saw Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within today with Lizzy. The graphics were good but on a whole, the movie sucked... quite disappointing. And what's up with the lack of Asian characters in the movie?
  7.8.01 9:43 AM (Sunday)
More of the same today... I went back to the Chinatown festival with Khaliun and David. Leanne was supposed to go but she didn't show up... anyway I sang the same two songs as yesterday, then "Automatic" with my sister, "Teenage Dirtbag" with Khaliun, and "Evolution" by myself. After that Khaliun called a cab and we went to Sujot's surprise going away party, but I had to leave early b/c of Chem HW... so Claire and I took the bus and left early.
  7.7.01 8:44 PM (Saturday)
Did lots of fun stuff today... in the morning I kinda got stood up by David and James b/c we were supposed to meet at Kinokuniya at 11 AM, but they both forgot... bored, I bought Mai Kuraki's new CD "Perfect Crime". And we met up in front of the Pit for... the Chinatown Annual Festival thing! It was pretty fun, David and I sang SMAP's "Yozora no Mukou" really badly and then we went to go get some free stuff around the booths. Then we saw Shu Ming and Tina, so we all went back to sing some more karaoke... I sang "Pieces of a Dream" by Chemistry and Shu Ming and Tina sang a Chinese song by Andy Lau. We went to Downtown afterwards and I saw AI with Margaret, which was a really weird movie. We played DDR afterwards, harhar. Then I took the bus home, and I sat next to two crazy old women.
  6.30.01 11:10 AM (Saturday)
Walk for Rice was today! I helped David organize our team, aptly called "Garfield," and we got around 15 or so people to walk for the group. Throughout the walk I was mainly walking with Peter, Lizzy, Megsie, and Gabino. It was pretty fun, hopefully we'll collect more money and have more people next year. Finally, I'll get to finally start BOF IV in a few minutes...
  6.22.01 11:50 PM (Friday)
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! Since Tueday, here's a day-by-day breakdown of the rest of the week:
Wednedsay- I sported my Asian 'fro and this visor I got from the mall Monday. There was a Key Club party during lunch. Also, I went to Wedgewood's graduation to congratulate all the kids I had from camp.
Thursday- A party in Japanese, a somewhat party in AP, and a math final. I went to Gossip during lunch and bought a milk tea for Sujot but when I came back to GHS I couldn't find her and I ended up selling it to Flavia for $1.50... hmm
Friday- Last day of school! In the morning I took a Spang final, got 118.5/140 but it was curved. I was kinda relieved I did so well. The rest of the schoolday was less stressful, I skipped Band to go to Spang's for a "party" in 5th. Afterschool I saw the Fast and the Furious, a good movie, and it has lots of neat cars. Then to Gameworks, then to Sydney's barbecue party, where lots of interesting stuff happened, then I got a ride with Peter home.
  6.19.01 5:54 PM (Tuesday)
Went to Camp Long with Key Club today. It wasn't really that fun, because my job was to supervise the relay races, and none of the kids were really enjoying it... they were all fighting. Oh well.
  6.17.01 10:01 PM (Sunday)
Was anyone watching Fear Factor tonight?! The first episode was good, better than MTV's fear anyway... much more scarier dare-type things.
On another note, we had an NHS thing today, where we had to volunteer for Operation: Sack Lunch. It was better than the GHS clean ups they had us do before...
This past week has also been hell because of the really big Marine Science Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy project due on Thursday. I hardly got any sleep during the week, to top that off I stayed up all night on Wednesday.
  6.11.01 11:39 PM (Monday)
Final Band concert was tonight! We kinda sucked but it was all good. I thought about it, it may have very well been the last time I played my saxophone, but only time will tell.
  6.9.01 11:29 AM (Saturday)
Lots of stuff happened since graduation... on Thursday my second group finished our elementary school project (consisting of me, David S., David F., Zach F., and Sheena... Yuki backed out at the last minute, which pissed me off) by doing a treasure hunt. I stayed afterschool to identify some algae and make up a math test that I missed because of the elementary school project... luckily, I got a ride home with Hannah, who I never really talked to before. Yesterday, the alage project was due. Afterschool I had to stay and finish my Pup duties so I went to the library with David (which was closing for a month b/c it's going to move) and we copied some stuff on the next big Marine Science project.
  6.6.01 11:01 PM (Wednesday)
Just came back from 2001's graduation! It was kinda fun, although I had to play with band, and no one was there. Even though our seats were really near we couldn't really see anything because it was from behind. I got a ride from Jeffo afterwards and we were thinking how sad it was when we were going to graduate but... we're almost halfway there! Upperclassmen soon.
On an interesting note, it's interesting that during last year's graduation I had to rush home to finish a plant collection project for Biology (which I got 184 out of 100 on, lol)... when this year I've got an algae collection project due in two days for Marine Science.
  6.5.01 8:48 PM (Tuesday)
What a busy week! On Friday was Purple and White day, the senior's last day. I don't want to be too specific but I had a little fun... yesterday was Aquarium Night, a parent evaluation final for Marine Science. My mom gave me a near perfect score and an A+... and tonight I went to Gossip with Louis, Emily, and Colin for the sake of Journalism class (our Pup deadlines are too soon...) Tomorrow is graduation! I'm looking forward to it.
  5.29.01 8:58 PM (Tuesday)
After slacking off for most the weekend and resting, I went to the aquarium on Sunday (5-27-01) to do my Aquarium Project and I saw lots of people there... Luk, his brother, Megsie, Beza, and Loyan among others. I even went around Pike Place Market with Luk and his brother afterwards.
Today has been both good and bad; I'm behind in all of my classes except Band. But I got a 98 on my driving final! And then I had to rush over to the orthodontist.
  5.25.01 8:17 PM (Friday)
I came back from Cedar Springs Camp today, where I was a counselor to a class of 5th graders. The counselors from Garfield were just me, Gabino, Aaron, and Alesha, and the rest were (mostly Asian) people from Ingraham. Interestingly, Dan G.'s brother was in my cabin, and for some reason I kept wanting to call him "Dan." The entire experience was really, really fun though. I'm considering doing it again next year.
  5.20.01 4:12 PM (Sunday)
This weekend started off really busy and now I'm kinda bored. On Friday morning my group finished our Marine Science elementary school project by going to a 4th grade St. Joe's class, to Kate's old teacher (a big difference from 3rd grade Dunlap) and we did a good job I think. The kids were really smart though, and even outsmarted us on some questions, but because we knew what we were talking about (and we acted like it) we still had integrity. Then Gabino drove me over to Gameworks to start James' birthday party! It was pretty fun, two hours of Gameworks, then we decided not to see a movie so we just hung around downtown, then to dinner at Chang's Mongolian Grill. On another note, I didn't make it onto Messenger, which kinda annoys me for some reason. I applied for artist or tech staff. It's strange because other really qualified people (ie Spencer H., Louis) didn't make it either. PS LIZZY THAT HOROSCOPE WAS RIGHT! Freeway driving sucked.
  5.16.01 5:46 PM (Wednesday)
Lots of stuff happened today. I had a mini-newspaper due in Journalism today, which my group didn't get finished, so hopefully we'll turn it in tomorrow... and then I had to rush over to find Gabino so we could drive to our elementary school project thing for Marine Science, which consists of me, Gabino, Margaret, Caitlin, Kate, and Matt R. (and Lindsey came along too, because the teacher we went to was her mother over at Dunlap.) We stopped by Mutual Fish to buy some crabs (expensive...) and then to Burger King for lunch (strangely, it's the first time I've been out driving for lunch.) And the elementary school thing was fun, we got to teach third graders. Then I had to rush back for Driver's Ed.
  5.12.01 11:41 AM (Saturday)
The real AP test was yesterday, and I'm happy to say I did my best... I know I deserve at least a 3 but it'd great to get a 4 or 5. It feels good to get it over with. I was so happy I didn't mind waiting 2 or so hours until Shu Ming's sister came to pick us up.
  5.11.01 12:32 AM (Friday)
Wow, a whole week without updates. It's been a busy week... for one, the Mock AP was really tough, I ended up getting a 3/5 (barely a 4 by 5 points...) and the real test is later today. I'm also applying for the Messenger, our school's newspaper, for part of artist or on tech staff, so I hope I get in. We made yakisoba in Japanese today (well, yesterday...), which was kinda interesting... oh yeah, and the ant problem got worse. Instead of being erradicated they moved to my sister's room. Now I have to get back to cramming for this AP test.
  5.04.01 3:56 AM (Friday)
In the midst of studying for the Mock Euro AP Test tomorrow (well... later today), I was alarmed to see some ants crawling in the downstairs bathroom... then I found out the entire bathroom has been taken over by ants in the last day o_O If I could only figure out how they got there and if they're there for good (I killed a lot, but...) Die ants, die! We might need to get a professional exterminator, but more on this later.
  5.1.01 3:16 PM (Tuesday)
No school today as teachers strike. The past two months have just really speeded by. I hope it's like for the next two months. I've got so much homework in all of my classes except Band and Japanese. And I've got tons of big tests too. Then there's Driver's Ed... to top everything off my scanner just broke. Time crunch.
  4.26.01 6:50 PM (Thursday)
Yep, it's another Thursday, and whether subconsciously or not, I decided to update. I just came back from driving again in Driver's Ed and I did better, but, never having driven on arterials, I nearly crashed the car trying to lane change, uhh... My DVD's came today, and they're much better quality than VCD's, so I'm having a much better time watching them. Oh yeah, Hawaii people came back Monday afternoon. Evan seems to be coping well with his injuries so, no worries there I hope. Oh yeah, my group's Marine Science play was neat, we got an A+.
  4.19.01 6:14 PM (Thursday)
Hmm, what's up with me and updating this page on Thursdays? Anyways, I had to drive a car for the very first time today in Driver's Ed. It was kinda bad... but at least I didn't crash into anything!
Yeah, bad news from Hawaii. Evan broke his leg wrestling Spang, and had to fly back home for surgery. The staff of the mog network would like to wish Evan a speedy recovery.
Also, anyone watch the new gameshow Weakest Link?! It's the best! I might do a Marine Science puppet show based on it.
  4.8.01 1:27 PM (Sunday)
It's the second day of Spring Break, and I'm bummed I'm not doing anything or going anywhere. It would've been neat to go with my Marine Science class to Hawaii, but I didn't apply so... I got my Driver's Permit yesterday, after a wait of only 1 1/2 hours! I can't wait to practice my driving. Also... 3rd quarter's over! Just a little while before summer vacation.
  4.5.01 1:18 AM (Thursday)
I had my first simulation in Traffic Ed. It's so hard and unrealistic... I can't believe it counts towards our grade. Also, the Day of Silence was today, to honor gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered people. I didn't participate though.
  3.29.01 1:00 AM (Thursday)
Yesterday I had my first Traffic Ed class. It sucks because I'm going to be affected by the new "Intermediate Liscensing Law." We registered on Tuesday, and it feels strange jumping right in.
Hmm, to no surprise Utada Hikaru's "Distance" is beating out Hamasaki Ayumi's "A Best."
  3.21.01 8:31 PM (Wednesday)
March has gone by quite fast, and it's spring now. We had a band concert at Ingraham, of all places, today. What angered me was that I skipped a performance to go to Burger King with a semi-large group, and when I got my food I couldn't chew it because of these rubber bands for my braces. My teeth are hurting. Of course, we didn't play that great, and that critique person who evaluated us afterwards basically reassured us so.
  3.4.01 12:26 AM (Sunday)
Wow, just came back from Caroline/Kelly/Joanna's birthday grammy party. Fewer people came than I suspected but there were still a considerable amount of people there. I stayed at Eric's house for about two hours and we (with Jeffo) practiced for about half that, then we performed SMAP's "Yozora no Mukou," doing goofy dances. It was pretty fun. I also saw some people I haven't seen since middle school, as well as... some people I didn't know.
  2.28.01 3:06 PM (Wednesday)
There was an unexpected earthquake today. After looking through my house and finding that nothing was damaged-- just a few things fallen over here and there (in fact, it looked like nothing happened at all)-- I'm quite relieved at the outcome. The earthquake happened around 10 or 11, and I was in 3rd period Journalism. We were in the middle of a discussion and then suddenly everything started shaking. I looked out the window and quickly realized it was an earthquake. "It's the big one!" I thought.. because Seattle is overdue for a major earthquake, and I thought we were going to die. A moment of uneasiness and fear took over everyone and we were all quiet and confused. The entire class just sat in our seats until something fell over in the back, which was 10 seconds into the shaking, and then we finally got under our seats for the rest of the earthquake, which lasted for at least 30 more seconds. We tried to finish our activity for the day but then we evacuated to the field. The day went on normally. We went back to the school building around lunch, and I found out we were hit with a 7.0 on the scale. It surely didn't seem like it. Band was awful... I can't believe I stayed in there to play when I could've gone out and skipped. No one was there.
  2.22.01 9:13 PM (Thursday)
After an orthodontist appointment I went to Chinatown and to Downtown to see Hannibal, where many people were supposed to show up but it turned out to be just me, Aaron, and Brian. I've been trying to see the movie the whole week. We couldn't get in so we settled for 2 hours of unlimited play at Gameworks.
  2.17.01 12:22 AM (Saturday)
And by a small twist of fate Seattle had a large snowstorm so school was cancelled yesterday. Initially I was pissed off, but now I don't really care.
  2.15.01 1:11 AM (Thursday)
Valentine's Day sucked as a whole. It was Kelly N.'s b-day and I got her a box of Lucky Charms from Red Apple during lunch. Actually Peter bought a small carton of milk and was supposed to give it to her 5th period but I don't know if she got it, so...
My teeth are hurting from seperators I got Monday.
  2.8.01 7:45 PM (Thursday)
I had a horrible day today... in Japanese we had to make Valentine cards, and for some reason I had this Request to Report for "STARS" so I somewhat rushed my cards, then sensei said they were "simple" so I had to make another one. I wouldn't have rushed through them if I knew they were due the next day... the Request to Report was for minorities who were "bilingual" chosen from what they called an "enterprisal zone" (wtf?) and basically they tried to hook us up with blue collar jobs, the "trades." Yeah there were no European people there, just ethnic Africans, and Asians. To add to that, I was going to use the time to study for the first AP Euro test of the semester, but I couldn't study.
  1.27.01 8:37 AM (Saturday)
Finals are all done, semester is over, and I'm only getting a B in one class! Now for some other things.
  1.25.01 2:13 AM (Thursday)
Finals week has been hellish. Tonight i've been studying for Marine Science and AP European History finals since I got home from school with little success and many distractions.
  1.23.01 2:54 AM (Tuesday)
Went to the University Bookstore today, to hear a book reading from Edward Harkness, author of Saying the Necessary. I chanced upon Lizzy S. who was there for the very same reason: we needed to go to a book reading for LA. The poetry wasn't too great but I kinda liked it. I guess I expected more from a teacher of poetry at a college...
  1.21.01 12:29 AM (Saturday)
This past week went by so quick. Thursday was the MLK assembly, and someone chose to segregate the school so that white people sat on one side and people of color (basically all other races) on the other. There were some ghetto white people ::coughcoughthomasbuehranscoughcough:: that sat on the other side though. And the NHS cleanup was this morning. A certain someone didn't show up so we cleaned up by ourselves. And we played with a dead rat, which was interesting.
  1.6.01 5:55 PM (Saturday)
Just came back from the Post Office, then to the store in the former Uwajimaya, then to a Japanese restuarant, then to the new Uwajimaya, then to Gameworks. I know I'm old, and all you nerdy or game-playing Asian types will be like 'wow, he hasn't even played it yet?' but I was watching some people play Dance Dance Revolution. That game looks fun but having not played it I was discouraged by all the experts there. At $1.50 a pop though, the price is enough to discourage me by itself.
School starts in two days, somebody shoot me...
  1.5.01 9:51 PM (Friday)
I'm spending more time on this new layout than I should have. Acutally I only started last night, finishing an entirely new layout in one day is an achievement for me. I got tired of restricting myself from graphics-intensive layouts so this one's a little different... still, I tried keeping loading time down.
I also beat FFIX a few days ago. I tried playing the most perfect game I could (no idea why, it's not like it matters), getting 254/255 of the items, mastering the mini-games, not running away in battle, etc. The ending was screwed up. But wow, I think Beatrix may be my new favorite FF female, aside from Celes and Quistis.
Also, here's a small tip from me: DON'T SEE THE MOVIE CASTAWAY! It was a dumb movie, and if you do see it you'll probably only want to see it once. It was 1 1/2 hours of naked Tom Hanks doing every predictable thing a man could do while stranded on an island. The only intense part was when the plane was crashing, and there was like 10 minutes of panic and uncertainty. From there the movie went downhill. Now... I want to go see the movie Traffic...
